Events include our annual Local History Day, regional conferences, and activities around the country planned jointly with other organisations. Visits are arranged to places of interest to local historians, often not easily accessible to individuals.
BALH aims to encourage interest and enthusiasm for local history amongst learners of all ages, and to share best practice, knowledge and skills. Our publications meet the needs of local historians for background information, and for practical advice and guidance about sources and methods.
Members receive The Local Historian, Local History News and the E-Newsletter four times a year, and have privileged access to conferences, specialist visits, and to the Discussion Forum and additional resources in the 'Members Only' area of this website.
The Local Historian contains articles on a very wide range of local history topics, including national overviews and local case-studies, as well as reviews and listings of new publications.
