Event date: 12th May 2019
Type of Event: Local History Event
Event Location: Ashwell, North Hertfordshire
Ashwell at Home day, now in its 36th year, will be held on Sunday 12th May 2019. The theme this year is Creative Ashwell.
The whole of Ashwell village comes alive on the day. There will be sixteen open gardens to tour, a plant stall, a range of musical performances, guided walks and talks and a range of activities for children.
There will also be performances by the Letchworth Morris Men and, in Tudor costumes, by the Herts Early Dance group. Traditional and modern crafts will be demonstrated and exhibited. Look out for a traditional cricket match and a fun fair on the village rec, a unique Arts and Crafts chapel of rest and buildings displaying a plaque telling you the story of the site. If you need help the Town Crier will be happy to point you in the right direction.
The event runs from 11:00am to 5:00pm. Refreshing coffee and home-made lunches and teas will be served at four different locations around the village.
The day ends with a performance in the church by Ashwell’s Big Sing choir.
The event raises funds for Ashwell Village Museum, Ashwell Primary School and Ashwell St Mary’s Church. Entry to everything is by wristband, which comes with a free 24-page programme and map, £7 per adult on the day, £6 if booked in advance; accompanied children free. Poster attached.
