Anglo Saxon Kingdoms: Art, Word, War. New British Library exhibition

Posted on 8th November 2018 by Paul Carter

An exhibition, open until Tuesday 19 Feb 2019

Gill Draper, BALH Events and Development Officer said "I very much enjoyed seeing the great range of writings from the 6th to the 11th centuries and the more limited number of artefacts. The writings are organised both by place and chronologically . We get so used to using sources from this period in print or electronically that we can forget how much more we can appreciate from seeing them literally in the flesh.  Take your time and try to guess when the exhibition won’t be busy! If. Like me, your mobility is limited, you can enter the notoriously slippery BL ‘piazza’ at Gate 5 on Midland Road, something I strongly recommend.  If you can’t go, see the website or ask for the exhibition book  for Christmas!"
