One of a series of digital skills webinars hosted by BALH in 2023.
Most local history societies and groups own paper and digital records that document their activities, such as meeting minutes, event posters and flyers, and photographs. This session will provide advice on archiving these collections, on the best way of preserving physical and digital records for the future, on cataloguing, and on archiving emails, websites and social media. We will also explore depositing local history society archives with county records offices and history centres.
Dr Ellie Pridgeon is a professionally qualified archivist and records manager, working in the archives, libraries, and museum sectors since 1998. She has worked at a number of leading UK institutions, including the Science Museum, Wiltshire Museum, the Museum of the Home (formerly Geffrye Museum), St Paul's Cathedral, the Britten-Pears Foundation, and the University of Bristol Library and Special Collections. Since 2013, Ellie has consulted on over 80 archive, records management, and evaluation projects.
