The Officers and Trustees invite members to attend this Special General Meeting (SGM), to be held online at 7:00pm on Thursday, 29 January 2026. The meeting has been convened to seek members’ approval for a single resolution: to confirm the transfer of BALH’s assets, liabilities and activities to the new British Association for Local History CIO, and to dissolve the existing charity in accordance with the constitution.

Holding the meeting online allows as many members as possible to participate. While the meeting will be broadcast live, voting will not take place during the event itself.

The single item on the Agenda is the following Resolution: 

'Pursuant to clause 13 of the Charity's constitution the members confirmed that following the establishment of the British Association for Local History (charity number: 1213896) (“the CIO”) the assets, liabilities and activities of the Charity now be transferred to the CIO and the Charity be dissolved.'

Members are asked to cast their vote in advance using the online voting form in the BALH Members Area.
