Introducing the Chair

Paul Dryburgh formally took over as Chair of BALH at Local History Day last month.
Hello everyone. I am Paul Dryburgh, the new Chair of the BALH. I have been a trustee now for four years and in that time I have also been a member of the Publications Committee. I am a proper Yellowbelly by birth (which means I was born in Lincolnshire) but I have family roots in Fife in Scotland too. I now live in Brentford in historic West London. My medieval research interests lie in the marches of Wales – I am currently President of the Mortimer History Society, which researches the medieval borderlands of Wales and England – and in Ireland but I am also keen on more modern railway, mining and sports history. In my day job I work at The National Archives in the Medieval Records team and have a keen interest in bringing the key skills needed to interpret and understand old records – language learning and palaeography – to all kinds of researchers.
