Spaces, Places and Belonging: Community Hub Training Needs Survey
Published: 12th December 2025
A UK-wide programme supporting community history and heritage, Spaces, Places and Belonging is gathering feedback to shape the Community Hub’s 2026 training and guidance. This short, anonymous survey asks individuals, groups and GLAM organisations what skills and resources would help them research, share and preserve their community’s heritage.
Spaces, Places and Belonging is a new UK-wide programme offering grants, training and digital tools to support community-led history and heritage research. Its Community Hub is now running a short, anonymous survey to help decide what training and guidance will be offered in 2026.
The survey is aimed at people actively involved in researching, sharing or caring for local and community history. This includes individual researchers, local history and heritage groups, and those working in or alongside archives, libraries, museums and heritage organisations.
The questions focus on areas that many BALH members will recognise, including digital heritage, storytelling and sharing research, managing collections, and funding and long-term sustainability. There is also space to highlight gaps and suggest how training should be delivered.
Your responses will directly influence the priorities and content of the Community Hub’s future programme.
The survey takes around 20 minutes and is open until 16 January 2026.
